If you are having trouble playing PSO BB, we might know something about the issue you're experiencing. We've compiled a list of some common problems users sometimes experience with their computer or Internet settings. See if your problem and solution are listed here. Even if you are dealing with a technical problem, please take a few minutes and read over our FAQ, it may contain information relevant to your problem.
Possible issue: Your browser is blocking https
Registering a Game ID involves sending confidential personal information. Therefore, the transmission is encrypted using https protocol. Make sure that your browser's settings allow for https protocol.
Possible issue: You are using a browser with encryption below 128 bit
If you are using an older browser, the level of encryption may be too low for the current standard. You should use a browser that is at least as recent as Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or Mozilla Firefox 1.0.
Possible issue: JavaScript is not enabled
Part of the registration process involves the use of JavaScript. If you have JavaScript disabled in your browser settings, you will not be able to complete registration. Enable JavaScript in order to proceed.
For Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0, this can be done by going under the 'Tools' menu, selecting 'Internet Options,' and then, under the 'Security' tab, click the 'Custom Level' button. Under 'Scripting,' make sure that 'Active scripting' is set to 'Enable.'
Possible issue: Another program is preventing JavaScript from running
Some antivirus programs and other software may disable JavaScript and prevent it from running. If you are using such a program, please check that program's settings, and make sure that it is not preventing JavaScript.
Possible issue: The server is under maintenance
The server that hosts the client download may currently be under maintenance, and so the download may be temporarily unavailable. We will be posting maintenance information once the game is released on June 9.
Possible issue: Connection is unstable
If the download does not complete, or if the connection times out after the download has been taking some time, try downloading the PSO BB client from a different server that offers the download.
Also, your ISP (Internet Service Provider) may be blocking or limiting your connection to the download server. Check with your ISP to see whether there is any such restriction on your connection.
Possible issue:
There is not enough free space on the hard drive
The PSO BB client download is approximately 500MB in size, and approximately 1.3GB of free disk space is required to install the client after download.
To check your current available disk space, right click on 'My Computer' and select 'Properties.' If you do not have enough space to install or download the client, you will need to make room by deleting some files from the hard drive.

If there are corrupted areas of your hard drive, then the PSOBB client may not install. For information on determining whether there is a corruption problem, consult your PC's user manual, or contact the manufacturer for further assistance.

Possible issue: The download did not complete
The client installer download may have been interrupted prematurely, and so the whole file may not have been obtained. The download may have been interrupted without any indications that there had been any problems. Try downloading the installer again, and you may be able to install the client successfully.

Your PC does not meet the minimum system requirements
If your PC does not meet the minimum system requirements for running the game, the client may not install at all.

Possible issue: Install was unsuccessful
The installation may have experienced an error at some point. Check [3] Cannot install PSO BB client above for more information.
Possible issue: Incompatible drivers
The current driver versions installed on your PC may cause the game to run incorrectly. Make sure that you are using the most recent drivers provided by the manufacturer of your graphics card and PC.
Possible issue: PC does not meet minimum requirements
The most important of the minimum system requirements for running PSO BB are the graphics card requirements. Some types of graphics cards will not display the game screen properly. Even recent graphics cards may not meet the minimum requirements to run PSO BB, so please check the minimum system requirements list to ensure that all of your hardware meets the specifications. Some laptop or notebook computers may not run the game properly, even if they meet the same system settings as a comparable desktop computer. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that PSO BB will be compatible with laptop or notebook computers.
Possible issue: 3D is not functioning properly
Direct3D Acceleration may be disabled. Check the DirectX Diagnostic Tool and make sure that Direct3D Acceleration is enabled under the Display tab.
How to run the DirectX Diagnostic Tool
To reach the DirectX Diagnostic Tool, open the Start Menu and select “Run…” At the command window, type “dxdiag” and hit “Ok” to continue.
Possible issue: Insufficient system resources (Windows 98 or ME)
If you are running Windows 98 or Millennium Edition, you may have insufficient system resources. System resources are taken up as more and more applications and devices are used. The maximum resource value is preset by Windows and cannot be changed, however, by freeing up resources that might be in use by other applications or devices, you may be able to run PSO BB. Please check the Windows user manual for information on closing programs that might run in the background or which activate and run automatically.
Possible issue: You are using a restricted user account (Windows 2000/XP):
If you are logged in as a different user from the one who installed the program, you may be unable to play. Try installing the game under the 'Administrator' account.

Possible issue: Appropriate options are not selected or visible
It may be possible to resolve this by switching to Low-End mode. From the Launcher Screen, at game startup, select 'Options,' and change the display settings to the ones listed below, and then try the game again.
- Display: 640x480; 16 bit
- Graphics: Low-End
- Sound: Off
If, after changing the settings to the ones above, the game still does not run properly, then your PC may be unable to handle PSO BB.
Possible issue: DirectX is not installed:
DirectX is a library (program) offered by Microsoft Corporation. It is needed to be able to play most PC games. PSO BB uses DirectX9.0b. If DirectX is not installed or you're using a version older than 9.0b, download DirectX here.
Possible issue: Insufficient graphics memory
You may not have enough graphics memory (VRAM) loaded in your PC system. Check the minimum system requirements and make sure that you have sufficient VRAM to run the game properly. If you are unable to determine whether you have enough VRAM, please consult with your PC's manufacturer.
Possible issue: Focus is taken by another application
When clicking the icon to start the PSO BB game application, depending on timing and on other device settings, it may be possible for another application to steal focus from your input. If this happens, close the program, run it again, and it should work properly. You may also be able to restore control input focus by clicking your mouse button on the game screen.
Possible issue : 'Save ID/Password' is not checked
There is a checkbox under the PSO BB Options dialogue box, accessed from the Launcher screen, for 'Save ID/Password.' If this box is not clicked, then your Game ID and password information will not be saved.
Possible issue: Input character limit has been reached
Both Game ID and Password are limited to 12 characters. Reconfirm your Game ID and Password and try again.
Possible issue: Server is under maintenance
The servers are occasionally taken down for periodic maintenance. Please check the homepage for maintenance updates.
Also, the server may briefly be offline for unscheduled maintenance. Try waiting a few minutes, and then try connecting to download the patch again.
Possible issue: ISP is blocking the TCP port
Your ISP (Internet Service Provider) may be blocking the TCP port for the patch download server. The TCP port numbers are 11000, 11001, 11100, 11101 and 12000 ~ 12010. Try requesting that your ISP release these ports to you (some ISPs may not grant such requests).
Possible issue: Router is blocking TCP port
If you are logged in as a different user from the one who installed the program, you may be unable to play. Try installing the game under the 'Administrator' account.

Your computer's security settings and/or software may be blocking the TCP port for the patch download server. The TCP port numbers are 11000, 11001, 11100, 11101 and 12000 ~ 12010. Please check any such software and settings and enable access to these ports.
Possible issue: Router's MTU value does not match PSO BB
Broadband routers have a parameter known as MTU. This sometimes needs to be set to a minimum required value. The PSO BB setting has an MTU value of 1420. Please check your router's instruction manual for information on how to change your settings.
Possible issue: There is some type of driver problem
You may be able to correct this problem by ensuring that you have updated to the newest drivers for your graphics card and network adapter (or network card). Older network adapters and out-of-date drivers can result in connection errors that will cause the blue screen problem to occur.

If the problem is not fixed by following the steps above, and you are using a broadband router, try connecting directly to your modem, without using the router. Also, check to make sure that your router's MTU value meets 1420.

Possible issue: There is no problem. This is supposed to happen.
The game is designed to shut down after the patch download is complete. Simply restart the game, and continue playing as normal!
Possible issue: Antivirus software
Some antivirus software will automatically 'fix' the rewritten executable file (by restoring the previous version). Because of this, repeated attempts to make the patch will result in the patch being nullified each time. Disable your antivirus program's automatic repair feature.
Please consult the publisher of your antivirus software program for instructions as necessary.

You may be able to correct this problem by ensuring that you have the newest drivers for your graphics card and network adapter. Older network adapters and out-of-date drivers can result in connection errors that will cause the blue screen problem to occur.
Possible issue : You have not purchased a Hunters License
In order to play online, you will need to have an active Hunters license. New users will be given access to a two week period of free play before billing begins. Read more about Hunters Licenses in our Getting Started section.
Possible issue : Your Game ID or Password is wrong
Double-check your Game ID and Password to make sure they are both correct.
Possible issue: Recent password change
If you have just recently changed your password, there may not have been enough time for the change to take effect. Trying waiting awhile and then logging in again.

Possible issue: Timed disconnect
When the number of users connected to the server gets above a certain point, by design, there is an automatic timeout. This should not happen very often, but during peak usage times, you may get disconnected if you take too long to connect. If this happens, simply reconnect and try again.
Possible issue: Buttons or keys were pressed too quickly
It is possible that your have disconnected as per [19] listed above, but hit a key or button before the warning message displayed onscreen.

Possible issue: Supplemental Language Support is Enabled
Some users have reported that they are unable to type when playing PSO BB. This problem is related to Supplemental Language Support within the user's OS. Please go into the
Windows control panel / regional and language options / languages tab /
and uncheck all the boxes in the supplemental language support section. Then reboot and you'll be able to type.
Possible issue: Supplemental Language Support is Enabled
There is a known issue concerning onboard network card for nForce3 and nForce4 motherboards. If you own one of these motherboards and are experiencing trouble getting to the character select screen, please follow the steps below to resolve the issue.
1. Open Control Panel
2. Open System
3. Select the Hardware tab
4. Select Device Manager
5. A window will appear with a list of devices, click the + symbol next to
Network Adaptors
6. Right Click the Nvidia nForce Network card and select Properties
7. Choose the Advanced tab
8. Select Checksum Offload
9. Set the Value to Disable

Possible issue: System is infected with Spyware
Spyware is a type of software that can infect your system through your Web browser or when installing a program. This type of software is different from a virus and does not directly harm your computer. The great bulk of these programs are used to gather and send marketing information data, and most of them are not illegal.
Since many of these programs can infect the system without the user realizing it, even if a particular program does not have a negative effect, as the amount of Spyware on a system grows, it begins to have an effect on the computer's performance. Also, the Spyware itself may have some type of bug, and it is impossible to tell what might result even by knowing that it is there.
There is any number of indefinable problems relating to Spyware that may interfere with the running of PSO BB. The best course of action is to remove the Spyware from your system, and PSO BB should be able to run normally again. There are a number of free software programs available that will remove Spyware for you.
Possible issue: Interference from other software
There are a number of beneficial software tools that can be installed when customizing your PC system. These can be used for many different purposes, but some of these programs can also have an effect on other applications. Video game programs, especially, may be affected by software that prevents high-speed processing for the sake of system stability. Other programs also prevent pirated software from running.
Depending on what other programs you have installed on your system, there are many different effects that PSO BB may experience. Before running the game, please make sure to shut down any unnecessary applications in order to get the best game play experience.
